Patrick Kane is headed back to the midwest. But after weeks of deliberations, he has decided where he wants to continue his NHL career: the Motor City. According to multiple reports, Kane is headed to the Red Wings on a one-year deal. Kane's contract is worth $2.75 million. Kane is one of the game's greatest players, a gifted skater capable of dangling through a through a maelstrom of defenders and still emerging with the puck tethered to his stick. And although Father Time and injuries have sapped some of that game-changing speed, Kaner is still a perennial point-per-game threat. Why Patrick Kane signed with the Red Wings Despite coming off the worst statistical season of his NHL career Kane recorded just 57 points in 73 games with the Blackhawks and Rangers last season the diminutive winger had plenty of suitors. According to the Athletic, the Rangers, Maple Leafs, Panthers and his hometown Sabres were all interested in Kane's services. Ultimately, it was Derek Lalonde's Detroit that won out. The Red Wings have underwent a pretty speedy rebuild under the guidance of Stanley Cup-winning general manager Steve Yzerman, accruing glimmering gemstones filled with youth and vigor. DeBrincat inked a four-year contract extension to stay in Detroit after being sent there back in July. Kane's arrival could spell even more goals for the 25-year old, who is already showing signs of his goal-scoring prowe s, having netted 12 times in 20 games. Kane's body might be slowing down.
