The most significant Threat, however, is the dual challenge of stringent privacy regulations (like GDPR) and a potential public backlash over concerns about surveillance and emotional manipulation, which could severely restrict its use and stifle growth.

The ability to infer a person's inner emotional state without their explicit, ongoing consent raises significant privacy concerns. There is a substantial risk of this technology being used for covert surveillance, discriminatory hiring practices, or manipulative advertising. Furthermore, the algorithms themselves can be flawed. A model trained primarily on data from one demographic group may perform poorly and unfairly on others, leading to algorithmic bias. The industry is in a constant state of debate about how to address these issues. The development of "explainable AI" (XAI) to make the models less of a black box, the establishment of clear ethical guidelines and standards, and the push for transparent data collection and usage policies are critical analytical points. The long-term viability of the market will depend as much on solving these ethical and societal challenges as it will on technological innovation.
