After what appeared to be simply a freak accident, forward had to be wheeled off the ice at CONSOL Energy Center. Dupuis was left immobile on the ice after a puck deflected and hit Spencer Shannon Jersey him in the back of the neck while he was in a prone position.Dupuis was observed by doctors on the ice as it appeared that most available medical personnel was quickly out after Dupuis went down.What makes the whole scenario more concerning was how it all transpired. Dupuis was knocked down with a cro s check from Alex Goligoski and may have already been in discomfort when he was struck by the puck. He was hit squarely on the neck by a deflected shot off of s stick. Dupuis remained on the ice and the medical staff was immediately called out.Theres always going to be raised concern with anything involving the head, neck and spine. Seeing the backboard come out only strengthens that fear.Dupuis appeared to be alert on the ice and was talking with doctors. He also gave a thumbs up to the crowd as he left the surface on the stretcher.UPDATE: Here's the latest from the Penguins on Dupuis' status. coach Johnston said Dupuis had numbne s in his arm but the feeling was coming back, so that's positive.
