U.S. starting goalie decision at Olympics has been mad
The United States men's hockey team is set in net. Team USA appears to know who will be starting Ken Hodge Jersey as its goalie in its Winter Olympics opener on Thursday against Latvia. , Connor Hellebuyck will get the nod. Hellebuyck, Jake Oettinger and Jeremy Swayman are all reliable NHL starters who could win games for Team USA in this tournament. MORE: Hellebuyck was the starter at the 4 Nations Faceoff, and he has by far the best career accomplishments. This season, though, the ' goalie hasn't had his best performances relative to his sterling reputation, which had at least temporarily opened the door to a question of who might start for the United States. Hellebuyck has gotten the starter's reps in practices, though, and it appears he'll be the man. At the 4 Nations Faceoff, Hellebuyck played in three games for the United States, going 2-1. He had a 93.2 save percentage and a 1.59 goals against average. MORE: The U.S. lost to Canada in overtime in the championship game, a disappointment for Hellebuyck and the United States, although now that can potentially serve as motivation as he tries to bounce back and get a gold medal. Oettinger (Dallas) and Swayman (Boston) will want to stay ready, because their chance is only one moment away. But for now, the net for Team USA belongs to Hellebuyck.
