Forbes NHL team rankings just not that valuable Blues owner say
Tom Stillman isnt too thrilled about where the St. Louis Blues rank on this years . We just dont put much stock in those evaluations, Stillman, majority owner of the Blues, said. Last season, the Blues were the least valuable team in the NHL, valued at $130 million with $89 million in revenue and an operating lo s of $10 million, according to Forbes estimates. This year, the organization is not in last place. The Blues landed at spot No. 28 on Forbes list, valued at $185 million with $72 million in revenue from last season and an Mauricio Dubon Jersey operating lo s of $2.5 million. Stillman said the rankings are pretty speculative and based on le s than complete information. Theyre just not that meaningful, he said. Whats more important, Stillman said, is the play on the ice. The team had its best start in franchise history. To me that is a lot more interesting and exciting and real than these Forbes rankings, Stillman said. Plus, Stillman said, Forbes estimate doesnt matter because the ownership group has no plans to sell. Were not a private equity group with a short horizon. Were in this for the long term so, it really doesnt matter what the evaluation is. This is the first regular season with Stillman at the helm, and hes been focused on getting more local busine ses to become sponsors. Despite becoming a more valuable team in the eyes of Forbes writers, it means nothing to potential sponsors, Jason Williams, director of the Rawlings Sport Busine s Management Program at Maryville University, said. The ranking will neither hurt nor help the organization when it comes to locking down new sponsors, he said. A group of investors led by Stillman bought the Blues for an estimated $130 million in 2012. Samantha Li s is a reporter for the , a sister publication of Sporting News. Spencer Arrighetti Jersey
