The Conn Smythe Trophy, named for the former Maple Leafs owner, general manager and coach, has beenawarded annually since 1965 to the MVP for the Stanley Cup playoffs. Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith is the 2015 winner.Unlike MVP trophies in other sports that are awarded to the most valuable player of the championship game or series, the Conn Smythe Trophy is given to the most valuable player to his team for the entire playoffs. Because of this unique criterion, players whose teams did not win the Stanley Cup are considered, though the Conn Smythe has only been awarded to players on non-Cup winning teams five times: Roger Crozier (Red Wings, 1966),Glenn Hall (Blues, 1968),Reggie Leach (Flyers, 1976),Ron Hextall (Flyers, 1987)and Jean-Sebastien Giguere (2003, Mighty Ducks).
